Purpose: The purpose of the Technical Product Owner role is to drive the successful delivery of technology solutions that align with the bank’s strategic goals, enhance customer experience, and ensure operational efficiency. This role serves as the critical link between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating business requirements into scalable, secure, and compliant digital products. By prioritizing features, managing the product backlog, and guiding technical execution, the Technical Product Owner ensures that the bank's digital platforms evolve to meet the needs of customers and the demands of a competitive financial landscape.


Essential Functions:

  • Product Ownership: Own and manage the product backlog for one or more banking technology platforms (e.g., mobile banking, online onboarding, payments, core banking APIs).
  • Requirements Gathering: Translate business needs and customer feedback into clear, actionable user stories and technical specifications.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with Digital Platform Manager, business units, IT, and compliance teams to prioritize features and align development with strategic goals.
  • Technical Oversight: Work closely with engineering teams to guide architecture decisions and ensure scalable, secure, and performant solutions.
  • Delivery Management: Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives) and ensure the timely delivery of product increments.
  • Risk & Compliance Alignment: Ensure all technical solutions comply with relevant regulations (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR, SOC2) and internal policies. Complete the User Access Review for all the platforms that are assigned.
  • Data & Analytics: Use data-driven insights to support decision-making, monitor product performance, and inform roadmap planning.


Job Related Qualifications:

Required:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Prior Experience: 3+ years of experience in a Product Owner, Business Analyst, Software Engineer or similar role in banking, fintech, or a regulated financial environment.
  • Licenses or Accreditation: Certification such as CSPO or SAFe PO/PM is a plus.

Competencies:

  • Solid grasp of software development concepts, system architecture, and modern technologies, enabling effective collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Proficient in managing product backlogs, writing user stories, and delivering solutions using Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to align priorities, gather requirements, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to understand user needs and translate them into valuable product features that improve experience and outcomes.
  • Understanding organizational or industry standards, ensuring solutions are delivered with appropriate risk management and compliance considerations.
  • Competent in analyzing complex challenges, interpreting data, and delivering clear, effective solutions that support business goals.

  • Able to regularly sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Extensive computer usage is required.
  • Able to travel occasionally.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends occasionally.
