Job Description: We are looking for an experienced Product Owner to join our Instrument Software team. This role requires a professional with experience in managing and delivering complex software products. This role should be capable of connecting business requirements with technical solutions while guiding the development of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) products in an agile environment, with an emphasis on delivering framework-level components to other software teams.Β 

Key Responsibilities:Β 

  • Customer Focus: Act as the voice of the internal and external customers, ensuring that product decisions are driven by customer needs and feedback.Β  Support Product Manager to develop a detailed product roadmap, prioritizing features and enhancements.Β 

  • Requirements Gathering: Gather and analyze requirements from various stakeholders (e.g. Product Managers, System Engr., Manufacturing, Field Service, Peer Software Teams). Document detailed requirements, including functional, non-functional, and technical requirements. Lead use case development, requirements analysis and review meetings to drive software design decisions.Β 

  • Agile Product Management: Lead agile product development processes, including PI (Program Increment) planning, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and daily stand-ups, to ensure timely delivery of high-quality software.Β 

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand user needs, gather requirements, evaluate their enhancement requests, and triage defects effectively.Β 

  • Monitor and Measure Success:β€―Support monitoring of development progress within our agile framework, escalate risks, and develop ways to improve product development processes.Β

Qualifications:Β 

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field (e.g., Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Software Engineering).Β 

  • Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of experience in software product management or product ownership. Experience within the Medical or Life Sciences industry, and experience as SW engineer or SW Test Engineer, are both a plus.Β 

  • Customer Orientation: Passion for understanding and addressing customer needs, with a focus on delivering software used by other software teams. Comfortable working across a wide spectrum of customer types.Β 

  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Β 

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.Β 

  • Communication: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to adapt to a diverse environment and work effectively in a global team.Β 

  • Technical Skills: Understanding of software development processes and methodologies, with experience in agile frameworks and tools. Troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Experience with networking and operating systems is desirable. Experience with integrating SW with Hardware subsystems is a plus.Β 

  • Domain Knowledge: Proven ability to contribute to software system design. Knowledge of medical software, healthcare regulations, cybersecurity best practices, and industry standards is desirable. Experience with NGS and Bioinformatics is a plus.Β 

Additional SkillsΒ 

  • Required experience with tools such as Jama, JIRA, Confluence, GitHub or their equivalents.Β 

  • Optional development experience in .NET, C#, Linux, Python, Typescript, or other programming languages and environmentsΒ 

  • Optional applied experience with AI Tools such as Copilot, Claude.Β

The estimated base salary range for the Software Technical Product Manager 2 (Engineering) role based in the United States of America is: $96,500 - $144,700. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
