CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS:Β  The Associate Category Manager is responsible for supporting all assigned product lines in Young Innovation’s product portfolio. They will assist the Category Director to ensure that these product lines align with the overall business strategy and will work with internal and external stakeholders to maintain product health and drive market share growth and profitability. The Associate Category Manager will report to the Category Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Β 

  • Responsible for maintaining all aspects of the product line, i.e. system updates, pricing updates and other items to ensure the category is current.
  • Supports execution of all product line strategies, initiatives, and tactics.
  • Assists the Category leader to execute against Voice of the Customer initiatives and gather/analyze data to share with them to help support business decisions.
  • Maintains communication calendar in conjunction with the marketing organization and measures success of key initiatives.
  • Provides reporting and materials for key stakeholders and associated meetings.
  • Manages customer and sales escalations to provide quick resolution.
  • In partnership with the Category Leader helps stay up to date on the competitive landscape for both product and industry trends, including reviewing third party data as needed.
  • Supports training for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Completes administrative tasks as needed to enable product success, including, but not limited to product change controls, system updates and other tasks as assigned.
  • Provides input and support to operations, sourcing, and QRA teams in the execution of their recurring or ad hoc product-focused efforts, including but not limited to: product change controls, margin enhancement, artwork approvals, and new vendor selection.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Training and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and education required.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

  • Able to gather, analyze and convey customer insight for effective decision making.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, with an ability to communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external customers/stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; intermediate or advanced Excel skills.
  • Must possess intellectual curiosity and a desire to work in a fast-paced organization on diverse and challenging projects.
  • Establishing and implementing communication plans.
  • Strong project management skills – ability to scope and structure large-scale projects.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Β 

Working Conditions

Office environment and occasional exposure to manufacturing plant environment, with some abnormal variations in temperature, unavoidable fumes, noise, dust and atmospheric conditions.

Travel Requirements

Ability to travel up to 35%.
