Position Summary
The Vice President of Product Management is a highly visible and impactful leadership role responsible for defining and driving the end-to-end product strategy across Western Digitalโs entire HDD portfolio, spanning consumer, OEM, and hyperscale cloud markets globally.
This leader operates with extreme ownership across the business, translating market dynamics, customer needs, and technology innovation into a cohesive, executable product vision and roadmap that serves as the companyโs blueprint for execution.
The role requires a unique blend of strategic leadership, technical depth, and strong commercial acumen. The Vice President will lead a global product management organization and partner closely across Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations, and Executive Leadership to deliver meaningful business results, drive growth, and maximize enterprise value.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Enterprise Product Strategy & Roadmap Leadership
ยท Define and own a multi-year product vision and strategy across Western Digitalโs full HDD portfolio, aligned with corporate priorities and market opportunities.
ยท Develop and drive a comprehensive, innovative product roadmap that serves as the enterprise-wide execution blueprint.
ยท Translate technology trends (AI workloads, hyperscale infrastructure, data growth) into differentiated product strategies and platform investments.
ยท Partner closely with Engineering and R&D to align technology development with product and market requirements.
ยท Identify and evaluate strategic opportunities including partnerships, ecosystem development, and M&A.

Business Ownership & Financial Leadership
ยท Drive strong business outcomes through ownership of portfolio performance, including revenue growth, profitability, and market share.
ยท Lead rigorous business planning, including TAM/SAM analysis, product investment cases, and long-range planning.
ยท Ensure financial discipline across the portfolio, balancing growth, cost efficiency, and return on investment.
ยท Partner with Finance to build robust forecasting models and scenario planning to guide decision-making.

Market Leadership, Positioning & Storytelling
ยท Serve as the voice of the customer and market, maintaining deep engagement with hyperscalers, OEMs, enterprise customers, and channel partners.
ยท Translate market insights into clear product positioning, segmentation, and go-to-market strategies.
ยท Lead development of compelling product narratives, executive-level presentations, and marketing collateral.
ยท Act as a key spokesperson for the portfolio with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders, including CEO and Executive Leadership Team.

ยท Define and execute pricing strategies that maximize value capture across segments and customers.
ยท Drive segmentation strategies that align product offerings with customer needs and willingness to pay.
ยท Continuously optimize the portfolio to improve margins, reduce cost, and enhance competitive positioning.
ยท Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to drive cost efficiencies and scalable execution.

ยท Oversee end-to-end product lifecycle management from concept through end-of-life.

ยท Build, lead, and develop a high-performing global product management organization.

ยท Develop strong talent pipelines, succession plans, and leadership capabilities within the organization.
Required:
ยท Progressive leadership experience in product management within storage, semiconductor, or related technology industries.
ยท Demonstrated success leading large-scale, global product portfolios with significant revenue responsibility.
ยท Strong track record of defining product strategy and delivering measurable business results.
ยท Deep technical understanding of storage systems, data infrastructure, and related technologies.
ยท Strong financial acumen with experience in business planning, pricing strategy, and portfolio management.
ยท Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence at all levels, including executive leadership and customers.

Education
ยท Bachelorโs degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline required.

Salary Range:ย 284,000.00-378,700.00

Compensation & Benefits Details
You will be eligible to be considered for bonuses underย either WDโs Short Term Incentive Plan (โSTI Planโ) or theย Sales Incentive Plan (โSIPโ) which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance, depending on your role and your performance. You may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan. Please note that not all roles are eligible to participate in the LTI program, and not all roles are eligible for equity under the LTI plan.
