The Senior Product Manager is responsible for the strategic ownership, execution, and evolution of our student performance data and instructional reporting tools. This role will own the roadmap for district, campus, and student-level insights, transforming complex student performance data into actionable instructional intelligence.

This role serves as a highly autonomous Product Managerer with direct ownership of several major product areas, driving end-to-end product strategy, execution, delivery, and continuous improvement across the full product lifecycle. The Senior Product Manager partners closely with Engineering, Product Design, Curriculum, QA, Customer Success, and Operations teams to ensure products are scalable, intuitive, instructionally effective, and aligned with company priorities.

The Senior Product Manager operates with a high degree of organizational trust and independence, serving as a strategic Product Manager across multiple major initiatives and product domains. This role is expected to independently drive product direction, execution, and cross-functional alignment while contributing to broader product consistency, scalable systems, and long-term platform quality.

This role requires a strong balance of product strategy, systems thinking, workflow design, execution leadership, and operational ownership. The ideal candidate is highly independent, capable of managing complexity across multiple products simultaneously, and skilled at creating clarity, structure, and momentum in fast-moving environments.

Key Responsibilities


Multi-Product Ownership

  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of multiple Summit K12 products or major product areas.
  • Drive product strategy, roadmap planning, prioritization, execution, release, and iterative improvement across owned products.
  • Ensure products align with company goals, instructional priorities, customer needs, and platform standards.
  • Balance short-term delivery needs with long-term product sustainability and scalability.

Product Strategy & Execution

  • Translate business objectives, customer feedback, and instructional goals into actionable product plans and product decisions.
  • Lead discovery efforts to identify opportunities for product improvements, workflow optimization, and feature innovation.
  • Prioritize initiatives based on user impact, business value, technical feasibility, and operational constraints.
  • Maintain clear ownership and accountability for product execution across planning, development, release, and maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate directly with executive leadership on strategic product direction, prioritization, and organizational product initiatives.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Lead cross-functional collaboration across Engineering, Product Design, Curriculum, QA, Product Operations, and Customer Success teams.
  • Serve as the primary Product Manager and decision-maker for owned products during planning, development, and release execution.
  • Coordinate effectively across teams to improve communication, reduce ambiguity, and maintain delivery momentum.
  • Ensure alignment between user experience goals, instructional integrity, and technical implementation.
  • Influence cross-functional decision-making and product direction across teams without direct management authority.
  • Partner closely with organizational leadership to support high-priority product initiatives and long-term product evolution.

Product Experience & Systems Thinking

  • Partner closely with Product Design and Engineering teams to shape cohesive, intuitive, and scalable product experiences.
  • Identify opportunities for reusable workflows, shared product structures, and operational efficiencies across products.
  • Contribute to improved product consistency, maintainability, and scalability across the broader platform ecosystem.
  • Promote thoughtful product decisions grounded in both user experience and long-term product sustainability.
  • Contribute to broader organizational product improvements through scalable workflows, reusable patterns, and cross-product operational alignment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve consistency, efficiency, and maintainability across product ecosystems.

Product Documentation & Delivery Management

  • Author and maintain Product Requirements Documents (PRDs), workflows, acceptance criteria, release documentation, and feature specifications.
  • Participate actively in sprint planning, backlog refinement, release planning, and product reviews.
  • Ensure product releases are thoroughly validated, high quality, and aligned with customer expectations.
  • Monitor post-release product performance and drive continuous improvements based on feedback and usage insights.

Customer & Instructional Alignment

  • Gather and synthesize customer feedback, educator insights, usage patterns, and internal stakeholder input.
  • Ensure products support authentic educator and student workflows while maintaining instructional effectiveness.
  • Partner with Curriculum and Academic teams to align product functionality with instructional goals and standards requirements.
  • Represent the voice of the user in cross-functional planning and prioritization discussions.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise


Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Product Management, Education, Business, Technology, UX, or a related field.
  • 5–8 years of experience in product management, UX/product strategy, SaaS products, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated success owning products through multiple release cycles.
  • Experience managing multiple complex products or workflows simultaneously.
  • Strong product judgment and independent decision-making capability.
  • Proven ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives from concept through delivery.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
  • Strong understanding of workflow design, user experience, and scalable product systems.

Preferred

  • A history of contributing to K–12 educational technology or instructional products.
  • Understanding of the specific workflows, daily challenges, and strategic priorities of teachers, school administrators, and district leaders
  • Experience working within workflow-heavy SaaS platforms or multi-product ecosystems.
  • Background in UX, interaction design, or product systems thinking.
  • Familiarity with Agile product development environments.
  • Experience balancing rapid execution with long-term product sustainability.
  • Familiarity with psychometric concepts, such as Item Response Theory (IRT) or Knowledge Space Theory is a plus, as we explore future directions for student mastery modeling.
  • Interested in the impact of generative AI on EdTech and experience with generative AI tools.
