RO Writer is a market-leading shop management system for the automotive repair industry, deployed in thousands of locations across the United States and Canada. We are in the middle of the most significant evolution in our product’s history: migrating our legacy on-premise platform to a modern cloud based solution.
We are looking for a Product Manager to own the remainder of that migration and the platform beyond it. This is not a coordinator role. You will be the person who decides what gets built before each group of customers moves to the cloud, what can wait, and what we leave behind and you will own those calls. You will work alongside engineering, customer success, sales, and leadership, all of whom care deeply about this product and will push hard for their priorities. Your job is to weigh their input, make the decision, and stand behind it. This role will also involve looking at ongoing innovation by looking at the market, the industry, and our customers to define where the platform goes next.
R.O Writer is part of the Gemini Group, one of the operating groups within Constellation Software Inc. (CSI). Being under CSI—a global leader in vertical market software—means we benefit from the stability, innovation, and long-term investment philosophy of a world-class software organization, while still operating with the agility and culture of a specialized team.

What You’ll Own in this Role
Parity and Scope Decisions: You are the internal authority on what must exist in the cloud platform before a customer migrates, versus what can follow later. You will make these calls based on customer workflow impact, technical constraint, and business value and defend them when stakeholders disagree.
The Product Roadmap: Build, own, and communicate the roadmap. Hold the line on priorities when timelines are tight and the requests are competing.
Customer Understanding: Spend real time with repair shops, in their environment, watching how counter staff, technicians, and owners actually use the product. Turn what you observe into decisions, not just notes.
Requirements and Delivery: Translate customer needs into clear user stories with the acceptance criteria, edge cases, and downstream context that engineering, QA, support, and training all depend on.
Outcomes, not just Output: Define what success looks like, measure it after launch, and act when the product isn’t meeting the bar. You are accountable for whether the product works for customers, not just whether it shipped.
AI Adoption: Use AI to work faster and smarter across the product lifecycle and help define where AI capabilities belong in what our customers experience. You don’t need to be an AI expert but you do need genuine curiosity and a willingness to learn by doing, including hands-on tools that let you prototype and interrogate data without waiting on engineering.
Cross-functional leadership: Partner with engineering, sales, marketing, support, and leadership to align on what ships and when. Train internal teams so they can confidently represent the product.
Who You Are
You have made hard product calls under pressure and owned the results. When a senior stakeholder pushes for something you believe is wrong, you engage it directly rather than routing around it. You are comfortable being the person who decides.
You are energized by a demanding schedule, high-stakes situation and not intimidated by it. You would rather inherit a hard problem and drive it than wait for a clean one to be handed to you.
What You Bring
5+ years in product management, with a track record of owning products end to end, not just coordinating delivery on someone else’s vision.
Direct experience making prioritization and scope decisions and defending them with senior stakeholders.
Experience with legacy modernization or platform migration, ideally on-premise to cloud, with real customer-impact and parity decisions.
Comfortability with hands-on customer discovery directly in their environment.
Ability to craft strong User Stories that anticipate the needs of downstream stakeholders.
Curiosity about AI and a willingness to use it in your own workflow and think about it in the product - learning by doing rather than waiting to be trained.
Comfort in ambiguous, fast-moving, lightly structured environments where you create clarity rather than wait for it.
Nice to Haves
Experience in automotive repair software or an adjacent industry.
Familiarity with product and project tooling (Jira, Aha!) and modern AI tools.
Relevant degree or equivalent experience; Pragmatic Marketing certification or similar.
