AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain β and we're looking for talented people who want to help.
You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
Within AIS and Data Center Engineering, the Mechanical Products and Services team is driving rapid innovation in mechanical cooling and controls systems used by AWS. Our designs are fundamentally changing the data center, providing operational and financial benefits that are critical to the success of the AWS business and its millions of customers. Our engineers solve challenging technology problems and take big bets on new concepts, enabling AWS services to continue to revolutionize the industry. This role provides the opportunity to work closely with our team of innovative mechanical engineering builders developing and deploying the next generation of liquid cooling infrastructure for our data centers.
AWS is seeking a Principal Technical Product Manager for our team developing new infrastructure solutions that enable at-scale deployment of the latest liquid-cooled racks into our data centers. We are looking for an individual contributor with excellent people skills and prior liquid cooling system level development experience to define the strategy, provide technical guidance, and lead the team to execute against this strategy. This role will work closely with both AWS builders and third-party manufacturers to develop data center infrastructure solutions on our behalf.
If you have experience leading the system level product strategy for mechanical products/solutions, have an extensive understanding of liquid-cooled solutions in data centers, and know how products should be operated to ensure quality and scalability, you may be a good fit. This role requires the ability to influence a team in developing product strategy and roadmaps that innovate, create, manage, and deliver world class products to be deployed in our data centers. Our product managers work passionately to define customer requirements, development compelling product strategies to drive business value, and partner with cross functional teams and external vendors to make their strategies a reality at AWS scale.
Since Amazon has a global presence, intermittent travel will be necessary and should be expected to be approximately 30% to AWS offices, data centers, suppliers, vendors, and product validation tests. While most travel will be domestic, some international travel may be required.
Key job responsibilities
β’ Define product strategies for AWS liquid cooling architectures, integrating multiple technologies that optimize for delivery speed, performance, reliability, and efficiency
β’ Define liquid cooling product roadmaps that ensure compatibility with future server hardware and data center infrastructure roadmaps
β’ Build trust with cross-functional disciplines by leading product roadmap reviews and gathering customer feedback
β’ Deliver a robust liquid cooling product portfolio that meets technical requirements for performance and reliability, but also considers broader implications to supply chain, manufacturing, construction, operations, and other disciplines
β’ Provide strategic product leadership for global deployment strategies, including standardization of cooling technologies, development of smart tools, and optimization of supply chain logistics
β’ Communicate complex system interactions through detailed system diagrams, control narratives, and performance specifications that bridge product and facility requirements
β’ Direct innovative, high-performance teams in developing integrated cooling solutions combining heat capture and heat rejection technology, optimizing facility-wide thermal management exceeding 100MW+ while achieving industry-leading mechanical PUE below 1.05
